Regarding the front page article in the Faribault Daily News dated Tuesday, October 7, 2008 “Defendant takes deal in drowned beagle case” Felony animal torture resulting in death carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison and a $5000 fine. Sentencing by Dist. Court Judge is scheduled for Oct. 29.

    PROSECUTORS WILL RECOMMEND SUPERVISED PROBATION AND ANY JAIL TIME TO BE STAYED

  2. Unfortunately, the law can’t be swayed on a case by case basis, so as of right now you may not be able to do much about this “specific case”.

    What you CAN DO for the future is get the laws changed in your State so the legal system “MUST DO” a minimum of “THIS” [whatever "this" is]. Get in touch with your local Humaine Society or SPCA and explain to them your concerns. They can easily partition the courts through government channels for stiffer minimums on cruelty to animal laws in your area.
