VOLUNTEER

GARC is organized by a participatory model where the volunteers are the decision-makers. We have four working groups, each focusing on a different area of conference organizing. We also have a central administrative group that oversees all of GARC.

We encourage you to join one of these working groups to become part of building this historic conference. If you'd like to help, but aren't sure what you'd like to do, email info@grassrootsar.org

Agenda
This working group is organizing the agenda, booking speakers, and planning direct action or protests to coincide with the conference.

Logistics
Responsible for finding a location for the conference; coordinating all forms of travel to and from it; providing low-cost housing for attendees; providing food for attendees; and ensuring wheelchair access, interpreters, and childcare; taking care of any other assorted logistical matters.

Publicity
Responsible for doing outreach about the conference through targeted emails, phone outreach, mailings, coverage in media sources, and direct contact through other activist groups and conferences. Also responsible for designing and updating our website and for designing publications.

Administrative Group
GARC's central decision making body. Also issues of infrastructure, coordinates, email discussion groups, and recruits organizers. This group helps organize the way the conference is planned, informs the entire committee of the planning stages of this conference, and makes sure it is planned in a way that includes all interested voices. The Admin-garc email list is for concrete decision-making and coordination of the various working group's activities.
